The quilting class I'm taking is nearing it's end, which mean time to finally, actually quilt something. We practiced in class on $2,000 machines. I thought, wow this is so easy I can't wait to get home and quilt this bad boy into a blanket. Um. yea. Due to my desk performing double duty, the quilting did not turn out at planned. You see, my imac fits perfectly snug on my desk. When I need to sew, the computer is pushed back a few inches and the sewing machine sits in front of it. This works fine for small items like pillows, hemming pants, and piecing together quilt squares. This DOES NOT work fine when trying to quilt a 56" x 56" thick blanket.
My fix: sew on the floor. I spent 3 hours last night hunched over my sewing machine sitting on the floor trying to sew perfectly curvy curved lines.
You know the pedal that works the machine? The FOOT pedal? In my snazzy new sewing position, it become a calf pedal. Crafty, I know.
It's almost done. Just needs binding.
Tomorrow night is the last class, therefore the last day I get 15% off in the store. Unnecessary purchases WILL be made. Class is at the most awesome store in all of NYC, The City Quilter.
