The weekly meal plan is being born today, for the following reasons:
- If I don't have a list at the grocery store, cookies, chips, and ice cream magically appear in my cart.
- If I know I'm making butternut squash lasagna that night, I can think about it all day and get excited.
- I'll bring my lunch to work more often if I actually have something to bring, therefore decreasing the chance of me spending $15 on a sandwich.
- I can try tons of new recipes of which I have all the ingredients because they were on my grocery list.
- Since I'm starting weight watchers again, I need to have healthy snacks on my person at all times.
Every Sunday I'll post our weekly menu here with recipes if applicable, meaning, recipes that are new to me. Recipes are usually found in my cookbooks, on Epicurious , on other blogs, on the Weight Watchers site, or on Fresh Direct (for those not in NYC, this is a grocery delivery service aka the best invention ever). Most things I cook using a haphazard method of throwing things together until it tastes good, case in point, turkey meatballs: mix together ground turkey, an egg, some breadcrumbs, some seasonings, cheese (if feeling crazy that night). Done.
This Week:
Monday - Dinner: tuna melts with leftover chicken soup. Lunch: out.
Wednesday - Dinner: chicken cutlets, broccoli, rice pilaf. Lunch: leftover lasagna.
Thursday - Dinner: spaghetti with homemade sauce and turkey meatballs with salad. Lunch: salad with chicken cutlet.
Friday - Dinner: Rosemary Grilled Chicken breasts , baked sweet potatoes, salad. Lunch: leftover spaghetti.
Saturday - Dinner: baked pork chops and roasted acorn squash.
Sunday - Dinner: chili (from the freezer) with egg noodles.
I was planning on walking the 4 blocks to the grocery store tonight, but the frigid cold quickly changed my mind. Although it's more expensive, the convenience of having Fresh Direct delivery men knock on my door with boxes of fresh food is worth the extra cost. They'll be here tomorrow between 6-8 PM. Score.

I do this, too! Ok, to be honest I've only done it once. But I plan on picking it back up this week. I'm with you, though. If I don't have a list to take with me to the store, it becomes a free-for-all.
haha, i'm the same why about thinking about my next meal all the time!! i absolutely can't do the meal planning thing though :-( every time i've tried my "better half" derails it. lol.
